We have used pillows, old life jackets, obus forms, foam , duct tape and straps…what ever it takes to make the boat fit the sailor. Oh yes we also use high tech stuff too. We once duct taped the head of a student to a board so he could see forward. We’re not proud, just resourceful. Our boats are all specially designed for persons with a disability, untipable and unsinkable yet some times it takes more. We have a sip and puff system for a full quad. We have not met the person yet we can not accommodate. Once sailing back in our own boat in 25 knots of winds we saw 3 small boats (our boat is 31 feet and 8300lbs, these were 8 feet 185 lbs) whipping back and forth across the harbour entrance in the lee of the island, still 12-15 knots of wind. Can only be QS sailors. One crossed our bow giving two big grins ………. it never ceases to amaze me.
